Skies of Blood
Warhammer Summer Campaign
Introduction
“Skies of Blood” is a five-scenario Warhammer campaign. The original “Skies of Blood” campaign was publish in The Citadel Journal issue 27 and was fought between a Chaos hoard and a High Elf army. This campaign has been redesigned for eighth edition and for all armies to take part in.
To join the campaign you need a partner (let me know if you need help finding a partner). One of you will be the invader and the other will be defending his homeland. Sign-up at the website below. The five scenarios will be posted at the same website. After you play, post who won there too.
Metroplex Wargamers Home at:
grapevinegamers.proboards.com/index.cgi?
Below is the game schedule:
Scenario 1: The Storm Breaks, June 1 to June 15
Scenario 2: Terror in the Woods, June 16 to June 30
Scenario 3: Slaughter at the Temple, July 1 to July 15
Scenario 4: The Tide Turns, July 16 to July 31
Scenario 5: The Final Conflict, August 1 to August 18
It is assumed that you and your partner will play all five games against each other. However it is not required. You can switch up partners with other players from scenario to scenario if you like. You can also play each scenario as many times as you like as long as you play a different partner each time. Invaders and Defenders can share insights regarding the scenarios publicly or secretly.
At the end of the time period for each scenario I will post whether the invaders or defenders won the round and the winners will receive a benefit in the next scenario. Whether the invaders or defenders win the entire campaign will be determined by the final scenario.
Don’t worry if you miss a round or join late. You are not required to play every round to participate. You can play wherever you like (but it’s coolest to play at Area 51).
The Additional Rules of Play
1. The Characters: Throughout the entire campaign, there are special characters on both sides. These represent the two opposing army generals and their subordinates. The scenarios will state which characters are to be used in which circumstances. These characters and any rules which apply to them are detailed in the scenarios themselves. No other special characters are allowed.
2. Casualty Recovery of Characters: Inevitably, the special characters above will be wounded during the fighting that they take part in. When one of the special characters listed above survives the battle, but has taken wounds, then roll a D6. On a 1 he is -1 Wound during the next game, 2 he is -1 Toughness, 3 he is -1 Strength, 4 he is -1 Move, 5 he is -1 Leadership, 6 he has the Hatred (all) ability. If the special character is killed during the battle, roll twice and apply both results. On a second roll of 6 the character has the Hatred (all) ability and the Frenzy ability.
3. Monsters and Magic Items: Unless otherwise stated in the scenario, no monsters that have a value of over 100 points will be allowed in any scenario. In a similar vein, in most scenarios, there will be a limit on the point value of Magic Items. This will be stated in the scenarios themselves.
